What is skid car?

Skid car is basically a road car with a hydraulic frame mounted underneath. The frame allows the instructor to alter the amount of grip the car has on the road surface thus simulating varying weather conditions from damp to black ice. This is all done in a safe environment and full control can be given back to the driver at the press of a button.

Our courses consist of:

Level 1 – bad weather driving experience

· Understanding of correct driving attitude

· Recognition & prevention of understeer and oversteer

· Understanding of how braking distances are affected by weather conditions and how to regain steering control by releasing pedal pressure

· Experience of driving car while ABS functioning

This is an ideal starter course for drivers who have not yet had any skid control tuition or young drivers wishing to gain further knowledge on car control. It is a 1 hour course based on 30 minutes theory and 30 minutes practical driving skid car

£75 for one to one training, £130 for 2 people sharing car.

Level 2 - skid prevention/control experience

· As Level 1 PLUS

· Understanding of skid control/skid prevention

· Safe and effective use of ABS brakes

We recommend that the driver has completed the basic course first but this is not always necessary. This course expands on the skills learned in the basic package, the driver receives 1 full hour practical skid car training.

Level 3 – electronic safety systems experience

· As Level 2 PLUS

· Aquaplaning

· Driving on ice

· How road position, balance of car, tyres can affect driving dynamics

· Safe and effective use of electronics including an understanding that they work best in dry conditions

Suitable for: Experienced drivers looking for advanced training
